What a wonderful year of weddings we've had! We met some new brides at the
Dunegrass Bridal show, had girls find us on the
internet; but most of our brides (or their families) have been customers for a long, long time. These are the most fun - simply because you know the family, their floral likes and dislikes, they know our work and let us do our job!
In talking with 3 different MOB's recently, I heard really sad stories about the lack of response from invitees. One Mother told me that she had to get on the phone and call about 30 guests because she had not heard from them and didn't know whether or not to order a meal for them. Another Mother told me after her daughter's wedding, that 8 people who said they were not going to attend the wedding showed up! This is so wrong, and it's very sad.
These poor brides and their families have spent alot of time, effort and money to make the wedding day not only special for themselves, but for the guests as well. All formal wedding invitations indicate to please R.S.V.P. A French term which literally translates 'repondez s'il vous plait', which simply means, 'please respond'.
So next time you are invited to a wedding or another formal event and you see R.S.V.P. - please respond!
